World Theater Day 2020, finds theater frozen. Its people in uncertainty. And its irreplaceable audience in crisis.

Artists, like other workers, are already within a void, having been out of work and at the same time, the following season too is uncertain, based on the coronavirus pandemic.

Today, the workforce of theatre, the heart of theatre, stand united. One by one, in a chain that grows and strengthens in order to defend all that theater means to us. Life. Work. Dignity. Fighting.

In this difficult time, deprived of our beloved art, we remain thoughtful, energetic, combative.

We demand that immediate measures are taken so that nobody will be in danger, nobody beyond saving. We claim materials for healthcare staff and doctors. We aim for the private clinics’ beds to be commandeered. We claim ICU beds.

We claim our right to exist. We claim substantial support measures for the employee, the unemployed, the pensioners.

Theater, as a part of society, is going through difficult times, which sadly won’t come simply to an end. We can come out victorious. United, organized so as not to let anyone deprive us of what we love most, our lives and our art.
