ACTRA SUPPORT

Toronto
January 16, 2026

On behalf of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television, Radio Artists (ACTRA) representing more than 30,000 members across Canada and alongside FIA, we stand in solidarity with the professional performers of Greece and the Hellenic Actors’ Union in their ongoing fight for fair working conditions and fundamental labour rights.

ACTRA has been working under collective agreements protecting performers for more than 80 years.

Since 2013, Greek actors have worked without the protection of collective bargaining agreements, leaving them without established labour standards or basic conditions of employment. This, despite the sustained efforts of the Hellenic Actors’ Union to engage employers in meaningful social dialogue.

The continued refusal of such employers to negotiate in good faith has left performers with no option but to take industrial action to defend basic labour and human rights.

ACTRA stands firmly with Greek performers and their union. We strongly urge employers to engage immediately in genuine, good-faith negotiations with the Hellenic Actors’ Union to conclude meaningful collective agreements that ensure fair pay, acceptable working conditions, and a sustainable, diverse, and culturally vibrant performing arts and audiovisual sector.

In solidarity,

Eleanor Noble

ACTRA National President
